Thinking Ergonomix in the Community

THINKING ERGONOMIX IN THE COMMUNITY
Thinking Ergonomix has a belief that all people are equal regardless of their position in the community or their position within the company.

We love to help people who face different challenges to the challenges we face ourselves. Thinking Ergonomix sponsors Marayke Jonkers who is a disabled athlete. Marayke has competed at the Sydney, Athens and Beijing Olympic Games and the sponsorship ensures Marayke can fulfill her goals on a personal and professional level. Part of the sponsorship program includes donating funds to a charity Marayke established called Sporting Dreams where the charity provides financial assistance to other disabled people who would like to get involved in sport. The funds are used to provide grants to allow the disabled person to purchase equipment such as racing wheelchairs, specialized equipment designed for disabled persons, or perhaps coaching lessons so the disabled person can learn how to swim as well as Marayke does.

Thinking Ergonomix organises staff to give blood during work hours – approximately 20% of the workforce gave blood three to four times throughout the year.

All staff are encouraged to donate to various charities, with staff donations matched by the company.

Donations are made to local schools to ensure under-privileged children do not miss out on participating in school camps or excursions due to financial hardship. These donations are kept confidential to protect the identity of the families benefiting from the donations.

CARING FOR OUR STAFF
Thinking Ergonomix provides full financial reimbursement for all staff who choose to complete further education to develop their skills. This is over and above the training courses that occur on a regular basis for staff.

Thinking Ergonomix is committed to ensuring staff are healthy and have every opportunity to improve their health and lifestyle. More than 50% of the staff recently participated in a Health Challenge. The company organised a health professional to assess all staff that participated in the challenge to establish their level of health. The health professional then gave advice on how to improve their health – ranging from diet, vitamin supplements, to exercise. Their progress was monitored during the challenge, and then re-assessed at the end of the challenge.

To support the staff in their commitment to a healthier lifestyle, a gymnasium was installed in the office to allow staff to exercise before work, at lunch, or after work.
